Nicolas Ovalle (aka: Grobe Ovai, Rolando Ga Ross ...) is a young artist of the Montevideo’s scene. Born at Montevideo, Uruguay (1988), he started playing piano at the age of nine, passing from classical composers, to modern jazz music, also worked in collaboration with Jeroen Van Veen, Dutch pianist, in the reinterpretation of Philip Glass. At the age of seventeen he evolved into the electronic music field under the infuence of artist like Nicolas Lutz, Matias Muten & Barem. His first release was at Tisch Records, a German abstract netabel, from that EP to nowadays his sound has evolved. | His last EP “Stranger” released on Time Has Changed (Fr) was charted by
Valentino Kanzyani and Van Hai from Perspectiv Records. This year the
music keep growing and getting refined. In this time his influences are
moving, Cobblestone Jazz, Audio Werner and Monoblock just for list a
few.
Nicolas is member of the wellknown Electronic Independent Project of
Uruguay (P!nk). This project was born with the intention to make the
Uruguayan scene grow. He participated in projects of culture with
colaboration of the Goethe Institut from Germany, creating an exchange
of culture. The ‘P!nk’ Project was invited to party with artist like
Dario Zenker, Lee Van Dowsky and the Wighnomy Brothers.
His experience playing Live take him into countless underground after
shows and into the biggest club of Montevideo, Key Club, exchanging
nights with Z@P, Matias Muten, Edunetto, Franco Bianco (Ar) and Juan
Deb (Ar). Under the alias “Rolando Ga Ross” was invited to play in one
of the biggest festivals of Uruguay, “Spring Love”, were also played,
Valentino Kanzyani, Marko Nastic & Umek. |
